TV trends expected from CES 2026

As every year, several new TVs are expected to be unveiled at CES. Unlike previous years, the major TV brands seem to have fairly similar ideas about how to innovate. In short, everyone and their mothers are releasing an RGB TV, and CES 2026 is setting the stage for a direct head-to-head comparison between Samsung, LG, Hisense, and more . Overall, there's a decent amount of variety in each brand's new TVs: in 2025, LG's main focus was expanding its best-in-class OLED TVs, TCL worked hard on mini-LED, and Samsung's claim to fame was a Neo QLED version of the Frame. Of course, there will be no shortage of new OLEDs and QLEDs in 2026. But the suddenly crowded RGB TV market is easily the most important plot point. Did you know that most backlight bulbs for QLED or mini-LED TVs only emit white or blue light? It's definitely not visible to the viewer. It's actually a layer of quantum dot crystals sandwiched on top that reflects white or blue light in all the c...

welcomes 2026 with a spectacular fireworks display as the world celebrates

From reproductive rights to climate change and big tech, The Independent is on the ground as the story unfolds. Whether investigating the finances of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or creating our latest documentary, 'The A Word,' which focuses on American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to analyze the data in the messages. Independents enjoy the trust of Americans across the political spectrum. And, unlike many other quality media outlets, we choose not to exclude Americans from our reporting and analysis through paid access. We believe that quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it. An hour before midnight, the victims of the country's worst mass shooting – which left 15 dead and 40 wounded – were remembered with a moment of reflection as the image of a menorah was projected onto Sydney Harbour Bridge. Crowds were invited to show their solidarity with Australia's Jewish community ...

enters with a bang as fireworks dance

An hour before the fireworks display, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was illuminated in white with a menorah illuminating its pylons, and the city fell silent for a minute of silence for the 15 victims of the Bondi terrorist attack earlier this month. chance to finish second in the live today

While this is a solid reason to employ the technique again, it may raise some eyebrows among Eagles fans. Philadelphia enters Week 18 with a chance to take second place in the NFC. If the Eagles beat the Commanders and the Chicago Bears lose to the Detroit Lions, the Eagles will move up to second place in the NFC. This would guarantee the Eagles home games during the playoffs unless necessary. As it stands, the Eagles will enter Week 18 of the NFC. With the Eagles resting their starters, the Commanders will likely have a better chance of winning the game. But after a strong 2024, Washington has come back down to earth after multiple injuries to quarterback Jayden Daniels, which sidelined the team with weeks left in the regular season. Daniels' backup, Marcus Mariota, is also injured, allowing the Commanders to once again rely on quarterback Josh Johnson. The game could be much closer than expected, despite the Eagles considering it a "goodbye" week. Despite anothe...

Guardiola on Semenyo reports: 'I have live news

Sources have told ESPN that discussions are ongoing, but at a press conference on Wednesday, Guardiola refused to talk about the possibility of adding the Ghana international to his squad. Enough already. We don't need pickle lemonade, pickle warheads, pickle gummies, or pickle-flavored potato chips. (Never mind—pickle-flavored chips are still good.) But the pickle craze is following the same trend as the bacon boom of the early 2000s: first it's fun, then it's annoying, then it's exhausting. At some point, you stop celebrating a good thing and start ruining it by forcing it into places where it doesn't belong (bacon soda, we're looking at you). TikTok made me do it. After watching influencer after influencer unwrap a bar filled with pistachio cream, tahini, and kataifi—crispy, juicy, and utterly luxurious—resistance felt futile. For months, it was impossible to find locally, which only added to the frenzy. Last summer, I finally got my first taste. It ...
